Mens Captains (Mick Browne) Prize Qualifying Round was hosted in the club at the weekend. Our golf course was in pristine condition, 220 players participated, 69 players made the cut on scores of 75 or better. Leading qualifier is son of Captain Mick Browne, Patrick with a tremendous score of 65 playing off 17.

Best of luck to all who qualified for the final round on Sunday next (26th), the last groups will be playing off 17 and 18 between 5pm and 6pm and in the case of a tie there will be a 3 hole play off, so come on up and enjoy the excitement! Prize giving ceremony will be at 9pm and all are welcome.

Mens Captain (Mick Browne) Prize final round was hosted in the club on Sunday, the golf course was immaculate, conditions proved to be very tough with golfers playing in storm force winds. After 36 holes it came down to two people; Colin Byrne and Simon Murphy, both with total scores of 139. The excitement then began with a 3 hole play off! Playing the last Colin had a one shot lead and that proved to be enough for Colin to pull through and win his first Captain's Prize. There were joyous scenes on the 18th green as Colin was congratulated by his wife and four children.
Mick Browne the Captain expressed his gratitute to his family, all members, the hard working committee and Ashton Catering for their service and efficiency. Mick also had high praise for Martin and his hard working course staff for the excellent condition of the course.

Special Mention must be given to the person with the best scores for each day in the Captain's Prize, Patrick Browne with a 65 in the qualifier, 71 in the final round. Patrick is son of the Captain Mick Browne, but unfortunately as Patrick is a juvenile member he was unable to accept first prize. Patrick collected the runner up prize, and also won our Tuesday open singles during the week. Well done Patrick! Also congratulations to Denis Patterson, 18 years of age playing off 5, who won the gross competition with a score of 155.
