The Captains' Michael Browne and Mary Deegan, team co-ordinater, President Matt O'Brien and Team Managers would like to thank all who played,  for taking the time and effort in representing the club and travelling to different courses during the year. Unfortunately we didn't have much success but we hope that everyone enjoyed their golf!

 

Congratulations to our Lady Vice Captain Olivia Cooney and her husband Colm on winning the husband and wife competition in Athy last Saturday (29th August)  with 42pts.

 

18th July: The Senior Cup Team led by team manager Noel Lyons bowed out gracefully at Mount Wolseley. Hard luck also to the Duggan Cup Team led by Team manager Richard Lynch who were just pipped by the Curragh today also. Noel and Richard have expressed their gratitude to all players who played and practiced for their respective teams.

 

 

The South Leinster team were defeated last Friday 26th June against Borris. Team manager Liam Horgan would like to thank the following who played Tom Whelan Gareth Whelan Michael Murphy Colin Byrne Dan Leigh Michael Merriman and Chris Merriman.

 

Success this week was for the Duggan Cup team who played Abbeyleix and at home were Michael Lynch and Maurice Byrne, Tom Whelan and Paddy Sammon, Joey Fagan and Richard Lynch and away were John Reynolds and Owen Cooney, John Mc Cormack and Michael Casey.   

The Ladies Finn Trophy Team played Enniscorthy and also lost out by a fine margin, the team manager Bernie Hennessy would like to thank the following who played Olivia Cooney and Romie Mc Greal, Bernie Kilcoyne and Assumpta O Neill, Margo Doyle and Paula Cadden, Lorraine Bowes and Claire Byrne, Bernie Hennessy and Deirdre Keating.

 

The Brennan Cup team played Callan last Thursday and the current holders bowed out graciously, on the team were Niall and Fergal Doogue, Noel and Paudge Doody, Michael O`Neill and Bernard Bowes, Ned Cremin and Tom Byrne, Brian Lord and Paul Davis, John Doran JNR and Michael Murphy. The Team manager Jim Murray would like to thank all who played and wished Callan the best of luck in the next round.

 

The South Leinster Team also played on Sunday and defeated Mountain View on the team were Tom Whelan Gareth Whelan, Michael Murphy, Colin Byrne and away were Michael Merriman Dan Leigh and Leslie murphy. Well done to all they lay their next match in 3 weeks.  

The Jimmy Bruen Team qualified for Sunday as one of the 4 teams with the best score, Coollattin played Kilcoole and were beaten 3 matches to 2 and Baltinglass defeated Kilkea also by the same margin. In the final on Sunday afternoon Kilcoole emerged victors by 3 matches to 2. Fergal Doogue and Liam Horgan would like to thank  all who played Paudge Doody and Brian Lord, Nick O`Neill and Paddy Lord, Dermot Allen and Michael O`Neill, Ray Danne and Brian Kilcoyne, Niall Doogue and Ned Cremin, Derek Byrne and Michael Campion, John O`Connell and Brendan Doogue.

On Wednesday 3rd June the Ladies Miele Team unortunately bowed out of the competition at home were Mary Whelan Olivia Cooney Margo Doyle and Joanne Daly and in Arklow Mai Quaid Claire Byrne Bernie Kilcoyne and Lorraine Bowes.

On Monday 1st June the Duggan Cup Team played Woodenbridge and had a great win at home were Tom Whelan and Paddy Sammon won on 17th, Chris Murphy and Maurice Byrne won  5/4 while playing away were Richard Lynch and Joe Fagan won on 16th Owen Cooney and John Reynolds John Mc Cormack and Michael Casey were called in. Well done to all they play Coolattin or Mountrath next.

Also on Monday the Indpendent Mixed Team played Enniscorthy and unfortunately lost by the marrowest of margins. At home were Olivia Cooney and Michael O` Neill who lost to a birdie on the 19th, Ned Cremin and Bernie Kilcoyne won 3/2 and away Fergal doogue and Catherine Lord lost 2/1 Paudge doody and Bernie Hennessy lost on 19th and Michael Browne and Joanne Daly won on 19th, Team Managers Ann Sammon and Matt O` Brien would like to thank all who played and wished Enniscorthy the very best of luck in the next round.

On Thursday the Ladies Finn Trophy played against Charlesland and won 3 matches to 2 on the team were Olivia Byrne Romy McGreal ,Lorraine Bowes and Clare Byrne, Margo Doyle and Paula Cadden, Joanne Daly and Bernie Hennessy and Assumpta O`Neill and Mary Deegan.

On Sunday 24th May The Brennan Cup Team managed by Jim Murray successfully began their defence against Kilerrig, on the team were, Michael Murphy and John Doran, Fergal Doogue and Niall Doogue, Paudge Doody and Noel Doody, Paul Davis and Brian Lord, Ned Cremin and Tom Byrne. They play Callan or Clonmel away in the next round.

On Thursday 21st May the Ladies BOYNE team played against Slade Valley and unfortunately were on the losing side, on the team were, Carol Walsh and Mona Moran, Mary Deegan and Lil Flynn, Jean Kilcoyne and Freda Cashin, Deirdre Keating and Mary Whelan, and Molly Mc Grath and Marie Byrne.

On Monday 18th May the Ladies CHALLENGE team played Blainroe, at home Aileen Stapleton and Teresa Doogue won their matches while away in very difficult weather conditions and unfortunately were beaten Freda Cashin, Gen Doyle and Maria Walshe. The Ladies Commitee would also like to thank Patricia Colgan who played in a previous round and to all who played and wished Blainroe the very best of luck in the next round.

On Sunday 17th May the PROVINCIAL TOWNS team were playing Abbeyleix and also lost out, at home were Niall Doogue, Mark Tobin, Ned Cremin and John O`Connell and away were Brian Lord, Patrick Lord, Michael Campion, Michael O`Neill and Dermot Allen. Team Manager Paudge Doody would also like to thank Brian Kilcoyne who played in previous rounds and to all who played and wished Abbeyleix the very best of luck in the next round.  

On Saturday 16th May the Pierce PURCELL team played in Craddockstown and failed to qualify in the stroke play event Team Manager Noel Doody would like to thank the following who played, Paddy Sammon and Tom Whelan, Matt O Brien and Maurice Byrne, Michael Browne and Frank O Neill, John Reynolds and John Mc Cormack, and Matt Byrne and Mick Byrne.

On Friday 15th May the CULLEN trophy team played Slade Valley and were unfortunately beaten, Team managers Mary Deegan and Richard Lynch would like to thank the following who played and wished Slade Valley the best of luck in the following round

This week the Mens Teams of the JB Carr play against Delgany on Tuesday and the Duggan Cup are playing Mount Wolseley on Thursday the Independent Mixed Team are out on Sunday against Callan and the South Leinster play Naas on are also out Sunday and the Ladies Miele Fourball are out on Tuesday.
